The Secret Exploits of Adm. Richard Byrd

GOES WELL BEYOND HIS PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED “PERSONAL DIARY” . . . WHAT WAS ADMIRAL RICHARD E. BYRD’S ULTIMATE INVOLVEMENT WITH THE ASSASSINATION OF PRESIDENT JOHN F. KENNEDY?

IS IT POSSIBLY CONNECTED WITH HIS AMAZING DISCOVERY OF A VAST ICE FREE “PARADISE” AT THE SOUTH POLE?

Several years ago a mysterious manuscript said to be Admiral Richard E. Byrd’s Private Log or Diary emerged. In it Byrd wrote about a vast ice-free “paradise” beyond the Poles: “We are crossing over the small mountain range and still proceeding northward as best as can be ascertained. Beyond the mountain range is what appears to be a valley with a small river or stream running through the center portion. There should be no green valley below! Something is definitely wrong and abnormal here! We should be over ice and snow! To the portside are great forests growing on the mountain slopes. Our navigation instruments are still spinning, the gyroscope is oscillating back and forth!”

During his career as an explorer, up until his death in March 1957, Byrd was considered a national hero. Besides exploring both Poles, it is alleged that the veteran Navy commander had come upon an entrance way that led into a Hollow Earth inhabited by a race of giants.

Rumor also has it that Byrd, during his 1947 expedition, was confronted by a “lost” battalion of Nazis whose settlement was being guarded by a fleet of back-engineered “Flying Saucers.” And while Byrd’s scientific team was supposed to stay for six months in this frozen region, his expedition was called off shortly after his arrival.

What is generally not known is that on one of Byrd’s sojourns to Antarctica, he sought to stave off mutiny from among his crew by enlisting some of the younger members into a very secretive “Loyal Legion,” which enabled him to clamp down on any leaks about his missions and discoveries.

And while the content of Byrd’s “secret diary” is open to debate, researcher and author Tim Cridland searches deeply into the many shadowy unknowns surrounding Byrd and the Nazis as well as a previously undisclosed wrinkle: a closely guarded connection between JFK’s assassination and the iron grip of those determined to keep the secrets surrounding UFOs and the arrival of ultra-terrestrials locked away from public scrutiny forever. This conspiracy involved members of a sinister, secret group of wealthy and “well-connected” individuals that included Lyndon Johnson, John Connelly and at least one member of Byrd’s family among its ranks.

This book takes a wholly original approach to a great many areas of interest revolving around the concept that our Earth is “hollow” and that a vast cavern system, constructed eons ago, exists connecting various subterranean cities with their hidden gateways back up to the surface world. Some researchers believe that the Inner Earth houses a potential “Garden of Eden-like” utopia, while others espouse the idea that much of the planet’s caverns and hollows are overrun by monstrous inhabitants wreaking havoc on the surface while serving to entice evil machinations from above ground conspirators who are loyal only to their self-serving dream of world conquest and domination.

The “Secret Exploits Of Admiral Richard E. Byrd” is a valuable inquiry made by a variety of independent researchers into a subject that has long been one of “instant ridicule” without being given its day in court. Here the reader will get to visit the various ancient cities of the subterranean world as well as learn about the “denizens of the deep” and their future design on unsuspecting surface dwellers who know little – or absolutely nothing – of their existence.

Saturn's Moon Enceladus Could Harbor Life

The likelihood of one of Saturn's moons harbouring life has received a huge boost, thanks to a new discovery made by NASA's Cassini spacecraft.

The probe has detected traces of molecular hydrogen (H2) in icy plumes spewing from fissures on the surface of Enceladus.

The discovery, reported on Friday in the journal Science, indicates the Saturnian moon's oceans contain conditions critical to fuelling life.

Study co-author Hunter Waite, the program director of mass spectrometry studies at the South West Research Institute, said the implications of finding hydrogen were "pretty amazing".

In 2015, analysis of hundreds of images taken by Cassini indicated Enceladus has a global ocean lying between its hard rocky core and icy surface.

To explore the composition of the ocean, NASA scientists sent the spacecraft on a daring deep dive through plumes of icy material that spew from the moon's south pole.

Past fly-bys of the small moon indicated the plumes contained a mix of gases, water vapour, carbon dioxide and organic materials.

But the latest mission provided the first evidence the ocean also contains hydrogen.

"The problem early on was it [Cassini] was flying by really fast and these instruments had never been designed for this job," he said.

"We realised the only way we were going to do this was to operate the instrument in a very different fashion."

Dr Waite said the hydrogen in the plumes was most likely produced by hydrothermal reactions between hot rocks and the water in the ocean.

"We went through an inventory of the different ways you could create the hydrogen you saw, and that was the most obvious source," he said.

The reaction charges the hot water with the chemicals necessary for microbial life to survive.

This process, known as methanogensis, happens around hydrothermal vents deep on the floor of the Earth's oceans.

"Hydrothermal systems on Earth use hydrogen as a food source … to create methane," he said.

Dr Waite said the sheer volume of hydrogen found in the plumes meant there was a "plentiful supply of food" for microbes to exist.

But while Dr Waite said the findings were exciting, the researchers were "very agnostic" about the prospect of life in Enceladus' oceans.

"We have so much hydrogen relative to methane that one could argue there's no microbes around to eat it," he said.

Dr Waite said the next order of business was either to return to the plumes of Enceladus with more precise instruments, or explore similar sub-surface oceans to the ones under the crust of the moon.

"Ultimately you want to send a submarine but it's going to be while before we can manage that one," he said.

Dr Waite said the Europa Clipper mission, which is set for a launch in the 2020s, provided an opportunity to extend the research.

"We've given some thought to this in putting together the Europa Clipper payload so that we'll go to Europa with some of the types of instruments [to conduct] investigations into presumably the plumes of Europa," he said.

The NASA New Frontiers program would also provide an opportunity to return to Enceladus with more sophisticated instruments, said Dr Waite.

The Cassini mission will come to a dramatic end when the spacecraft crashes into the surface of Saturn later this year.

The Latest on Reports of Unconventional Aircraft
By Micah Hanks

For a number of years, a wide variety of reports that involve alleged “mystery aircraft” have continued to surface. While bearing certain characteristics that distinguish them from typical military aircraft, the aircraft in these reports are a cut above your typical “flying saucer” or UFO type object reports.

First, let’s recall the aircraft that were observed, and even photographed over Wichita Kansas, as well as the Texas Panhandle, back in the middle of 2014. Described as a “flying Dorito”, the flying wing aircraft were photographed on a few different occasions, leading to theories about a possible classified manned penetrating reconnaissance aircraft being utilized by the USAF or some other military body.

However, while the talk of various spy planes remains the dominant theme in the midst of all this, there are occasionally reports that surface which bear more unusual characteristics, at least in relation to the kinds of aircraft and recognized technologies involved.

I received a report on April 6, 2017, describing a possible sighting of such an aircraft, which was seen over Kansas City, as described by the witness below:

"I stepped out around midday to get a coffee for a pick-me-up and was able to see a B-2 bomber flying around the area.  At one point it appeared to have stopped in the air for a moment and then shoot off quickly toward the horizon.  In your efforts to find a prosaic explanation regarding black triangles, seeing the B-2 appear to stop in the air and then take off quickly immediately reminded me about the various reports of the black triangle sightings.  Perhaps what is being seen by people who report about black triangles are really updated versions of the B-2.  I could see the bomber clearly because it was a beautiful day and the plane was on a blue sky background.  It was incredible to see the bomber as clearly as I did and was unable to get any pictures.  But imagining the idea of a newer, more capable, version of a B-2 (perhaps a B-3) with the ability to hover does not seem impossible in my mind and is a very plausible explanation for some of the black triangle sightings."

Barring any optical illusions that might have caused the B-2 observed by this witness to appear as though it had been hovering, it is intriguing to suppose that there might be, as the witness suggests, “updated” versions of certain aircraft that possess sophisticated features. Indeed, could such an aircraft (or an updated version of an existing one) account for certain reports of unidentified triangle-shaped objects, especially those observed at night, and under less-than-optimal visual conditions?

As far back as the early 1990s, there has been speculation about a number of supposedly classified aircraft. Almost without question, the most famous of these has been the Aurora, alleged to be a successor to the SR-71, which remained in service until 1998.

Throughout the 1990s, the Federation of American Scientists had also been featuring a number of updates on sightings of mystery aircraft in their Secrecy and Government Bulletin, overseen by Steven Aftergood. In the January, 1993 edition of the bulletin, an interesting report appeared that discussed the legitimacy of such sightings:

"The evidence supporting the existence of something like Aurora, a classified follow-on to the SR- 71 “Blackbird,” is surprisingly diverse, though hardly conclusive. At the same time, the evidence against its existence, derived from budget data, official pronouncements, and related policy decisions can not easily be dismissed. (This evidence is compiled and evaluated in an updated, August 1992 version of the FAS report “Mystery Aircraft.”) Most recently, Air Force Secretary Donald B. Rice insisted vigorously that no such secret program exists within the Air Force or anywhere else (Washington Post, 12/27/92, p. C6).

"If it were true, as reported, that a classified hypersonic aircraft is in operational service, the deepest significance of this fact would not be the existence of the aircraft, but rather the magnitude and audacity of the deception that had been perpetrated to conceal it."

Whether or not the descriptions collected throughout the 90s by the FAS represent a legitimate classified aircraft which has never been revealed on the public level is still a matter of debate. With continuing reports of aircraft today that resemble known varieties, though possessing “enhanced” capabilities such as hovering and other unusual flight behavior, it is hard to rule out the possibility that there could be more in our skies than most are aware of… and that such aircraft, and their unique technological applications, may also have existed far longer than many would expect.

Bizarre "Miracles" of the Catholic Church

Australian journalist Mike Willesee has dedicated a quarter of his life to investigating claims of inexplicable miracles of Jesus Christ in a bid to prove that God exists.

The former skeptic turned devout Catholic first shone to stardom as a young political reporter for the ABC in the 1960's, earning a reputation as a fearless interviewer.

But for the past 20 years Willesee has shrunk from the public spotlight, spending his time researching bizarre stories of 'spiritual encounters' across South America.

In an episode of Channel Seven's Sunday Night, the 74-year-old took a look inside some of the Catholic Churches' most debated and polarising 'so-called miracles.'

Willesee began with the 'bleeding Host of Buenos Aires' - the case of a discarded consecrated communion wafer that was said to have turned into blood and flesh.

The defiled host, meant to symbolise Jesus' body in the religious sacrament, was found by a woman at an Argentinian church in 1996.

Over 20 years later, the priest who was originally given the fleshy communion declared that it was 'strange and supernatural' when questioned by Willesee.

An atheist forensic pathologist who was not told the nature of the case found traces of skin after testing, while a separate professor asserted it was human heart tissue.

Moving north to Bolivia, Willesee next sought to look into whether a cheap plaster statue of Jesus actually had tears and blood pour from it for two decades.

Thousands of parishioners have flocked to the church in Cochabamba since a female parishioner made the remarkable claim in 1995.

Video footage online appears to show tears falling from the statue, while believers point to unverified reports that an Australian lab found human blood in the tears.

'Despite my personal and professional skepticism, I came here to see if this could somehow be happening,' Willesee said.

'I saw a statue of Christ with a face partially covered with what appeared to be dried blood. But as for tears and bleeding, I saw what I expected to see, which was nothing. But the locals had seen otherwise and they claimed it truly was a miracle.'

Willesee interviewed the original owner of the statue, Sylvia Arebalo, who told him she believed the statue had since cried between 800 to 1000 tears in 20 years.

A three-dimensional scan found the statue had 'not been tampered with', while countless tests across the globe of the dried blood on the statue came up with the same result - human blood, mysteriously without a DNA result.

Another blood-stained wafer, this one from a cartel-ridden region in Mexico, was tested by the Australia Institute of Forensic Medicine, and found to have belonged to a woman.

'The inability of 20 years of scientific research seeking clear answers to the other so-called miracles underlines the depth of this mystery, which means to me, this case is not closed,' Willesee determined in his closing remarks.

But viewers were not so open, taking to social media to slam Channel Seven for the 'bizarre' report, which some considered far-fetched and 'comical'.

'Judging from the tweets there will be about 5 viewers left by the end of this report. Bizarre,' wrote Michael.

'God: ' hmm.. Answer prayers of parent whose child has a brain tumour or make a statue weep.. Decisions,' tweeted Jane.

'This is nuts! You need the DNA of "Jesus" in the first place to compare it with the collected DNA to draw a conclusive conclusion?,' questioned Jay.

New Kidney 'Changed my Whole Personality'

A woman claims to have undergone a complete "personality transplant" after receiving a new kidney.

Cheryl Johnson, 37, says she has changed completely since receiving the organ in May. She believes that she must have picked up her new characteristics from the donor, a 59-year-old man who died from an aneurysm.

Now, not only has her personality changed, the single mother also claims that her tastes in literature have taken a dramatic turn. Whereas she only used to read low-brow novels, Dostoevsky has become her author of choice since the transplant.
advertisement

Miss Johnson, from Penwortham, in Preston, Lancs, said: "You pick up your characteristics from your donor. My son said when I first had the transplant, I went stroppy and snappy - that wasn't me.

"I have always loved books but I've started to read classics like Jane Austen and Dostoevsky. I found myself reading Persuasion."

The former Preston North End football steward's life has been turned round since her successful operation. After developing kidney problems in 1998, she had previously undergone every available form of dialysis as well as a failed transplant in 2001.

Miss Johnson added: "It's given my 16-year-old boy his mum back.

"I totally respect the family who gave me this kidney. They have given me the best thing they can - a chance for a normal life. I am forever grateful to them."

Academics in America have developed a theory called cellular memory phenomenon to explain the personality changes that are allegedly experienced by some transplant recipients.

Examples include a Massachusetts woman with vertigo who became a climber; a Milwaukee lawyer who began eating Snickers, having always hated chocolate; and a seven-year-old girl who had nightmares about being killed after being given the heart of a murdered child.

However, the only case recognised by the scientific community is that of a 15-year-old Australian girl whose blood type changed following a liver transplant.

UK Transplant also remains sceptical about the phenomenon. A spokesman said: "While not discarding it entirely, we have no reason to believe that it happens. We would be interested to see any definitive evidence that supports it."

The Strange History of the Easter Bunny

While you’re biting the heads off your chocolate bunnies this weekend, you might wonder how rabbits became so central to our Easter celebrations. It’s tempting to assume that because there’s no biblical basis for the Easter Bunny, rabbits and hares have no religious significance – but that’s just not the case.

Leviticus 11:6 states that the hare is an unclean animal: “The hare, for even though it chews the cud, it does not have divided hoofs; it is unclean for you”, but in Christian art, it is regularly associated with rebirth and resurrection.

In fact, the symbol of a circle of three hares joined by their ears has been found in a number of churches in Devon. Like much of our cultural "bunny” symbolism, the meaning of this image remains mysterious – and The Three Hares Project has been set up to research and document occurrences of the ancient symbol, examples of which have been found as far away as China.

Rabbits and hares have also been associated with Mary, mother of Jesus, for centuries. Their association with virgin birth comes from the fact that hares – often conflated mistakenly with rabbits – are able to produce a second litter of offspring while still pregnant with the first.

Virginity or fertility?

Titian’s painting The Madonna of the Rabbit depicts this relationship. Mary holds the rabbit in the foreground, signifying both her virginity and fertility. The rabbit is white to convey her purity and innocence.

Linking rabbits with purity and virginity is odd, however, since they’re also associated with prolific sexual activity, a reputation Hugh Hefner appropriated for his now infamous Playboy logo. Hefner claims that he chose a rabbit as the logo for his empire because the bunny is “a fresh animal, shy, vivacious, jumping – sexy. First it smells you, then it escapes, then it comes back, and you feel like caressing it, playing with it. A girl resembles a bunny. Joyful, joking.”

Hefner’s striking sexism aside, rabbits’ reputation for fecundity has also meant that they’ve been used as a symbol of fertility for centuries and have become associated with spring.
Ye olde Saxon mythe

Indeed, some folklorists have suggested that the Easter Bunny derives from an ancient Anglo-Saxon myth, concerning the fertility goddess Ostara. The Encyclopedia Mythica explains that:

Ostara is the personification of the rising sun. In that capacity she is associated with the spring and is considered a fertility goddess. She is the friend of all children and to amuse them she changed her pet bird into a rabbit. This rabbit brought forth brightly coloured eggs, which the Greek goddess gave to children as gifts. From her name and rites the festival of Easter is derived.

Indeed, in his 1835 book Deutsche Mythologie, Jacob Grimm states that “the Easter Hare is unintelligible to me, but probably the hare was the sacred animal of Ostara … Ostara, Eástre seems therefore to have been the divinity of the radiant dawn, of upspringing light, a spectacle that brings joy and blessing, whose meaning could be easily adapted by the resurrection-day of the Christian’s God.”

The myth of Ostara, then, has become a popular theory for the derivation of the Easter Bunny – although it is a contested one. Either way, it seems that the association between the Easter Bunny and Ostara began with the 8th-century scholar the Venerable Bede in his work The Reckoning of Time. Bede said that our word “Easter” stems from “Eostre” (another version of the name “Ostara”). There is, however, no other historical evidence to support his statement.

Modern bunnies

The earliest reference to an egg-toting Easter Bunny can be found in a late 16th-century German text (1572). “Do not worry if the Easter Bunny escapes you; should we miss his eggs, we will cook the nest,” the text reads. A century later, a German text once again mentions the Easter Bunny, describing it as an “old fable”, and suggesting that the story had been around for a while before the book was written.

In the 18th century, German immigrants took the custom of the Easter Bunny with them to the United States and, by the end of the 19th century, sweet shops in the eastern states were selling rabbit-shaped candies, prototypes of the chocolate bunnies we have today.

So whether bunnies are unclean, symbols of prolific sexual activity, or icons of virginity, the enigmatic Easter Bunny looks likely to remain a central part of Easter celebrations – recently, one was even involved in a surreal mass brawl in a New Jersey shopping centre. Just where they came from, however, will probably have to remain a mystery. At least for now.

‘The very strange history of the Easter Bunny’ by Katie Edwards was originally published on The Conversation and has been republished under a Creative Commons license.

Ultimate Weirdness from the Timmerman Files

It's sort of difficult to try and explain this to anybody and have them not think you are making it up, or that you're from the looney bin.

This was the opening statement by an interviewee for John Timmerman, who took the photo exhibit of the Center for UFO Studies (CUFOS) around 92 malls in the United States between 1980 and 1992. In the process, he heard so many stories that, after the first two malls, he brought along a tape recorder and taped the witnesses. Mostly, what he heard were conventional UFO reports - if "conventional" can be used for such a subject. However, as you should be aware, you can't probe very deeply into this field without unearthing stories which are very weird indeed.

     (1) It was broad daylight in August 1976, and a witness was working in his mobile home in the forested hills near Medford, Oregon. Just then, he saw something like burning magnesium approaching across the cloudless sky. As he looked, it resolved itself into two objects, side by side, moving in complete silence, about to pass over his home. They were discs, flat on the bottom, and curved on top, and intensely bright. The amazing thing was that, between them, was a vintage World War II bomber. It was dark grey, and he could see its bubble-like gunner's hatch, and the two propellers, which were not moving. But the tips of the wings seemed to rest on the luminous discs on either side, as if they were ferrying it.

Did some organization lose a World War II bomber exhibit in August 1976? If so, I suspect they never got it back.

    (2) This happened in 1949. The witness was a member of the 2nd Armored Division of the Tank Corps posted to Camp Hood, now Fort Hood Military Reservation in Texas.  For about a month he was on guard duty at night at a vacant, fenced-off areas on a nearby plateau. What they were supposed to be guarding was beyond him. Then, one night, about one a.m, some very bright, completely silent lights appeared in the sky, approached the plateau, and slowly descended. Much to his amazement, the end of the plateau suddenly opened up, and they could see light coming from inside. Then the other bright lights went down into the plateau, and it closed up again.

"At the time I was ignorant about such things," he added. To which Michael Swords, who recorded this, commented that we are still not much better off.

    (3) Now we come to the man who had difficulty explaining it to Timmerman. It had nothing to do with UFOs, but when you've had a really weird experience, and a stranger is prepared to listen, you might as well get it off your chest.
It was near Indianapolis, Indiana in 1977. The witness was standing in his living room, minding his own business, when he felt "a charge in the air", a tingling all over his skin, and the hair on the back of his neck stand on end. He felt he had to turn and look behind him. There, emerging from a line in thin air was the upper arm, shoulder, and part of the torso of something non-human. There may have been a small coloured glow to the line, which appeared to form the boundary between, well, this world and somewhere else. Almost at once, the thing disappeared back behind the line.

A year and a half later, the same thing happened. Interestingly, Timmerman didn't ask exactly what the creature looked like. Perhaps it was best not to know.

Of course, when you hear something totally weird like the the last one, my rule is to neither accept it or reject it. Instead, you put it in your folder. If it was not true, it will die of loneliness there, but if it is genuine, eventually one of its friends will come along to keep it company. Something like this:

     (4) In 2004 a Californian called Sean contacted the Fortean Times magazine and described an incident from a few years before. He was with a group of about 20 or 30 actors and film staff crammed into a flat, drinking and partying, and taking the occasional marijuana. It was about 11.30 at night, and he was listening to some music while a friend played a video game.

Suddenly, he noticed something move near the door of a small closet under the stairs, which people used as a "hotbox" ie a place to smoke marijuana, where the smoke can't escape.

I saw what I could only describe as a dark tentacle sweep out from underneath it. I felt a cold chill hit me as I watched it swish out from under the door, as if it was grabbing at something, and then swiftly retreat. It was a matt black colour - there was no reflection coming off it, as you would expect with a 'slimy' tentacle. It was not a cat's tail, an escaped snake or a remote-controlled prop (the only pets my friends had in their condo were copious amounts of roaches ... the scurrying kind that is.)

Sean said that, although he was perfectly functional under the influence of marijuana, he would have written it off as an hallucination, except that he locked eyes with his friend, Ryan. He asked her if she had seen the same thing. She had. They got the heck out of there.

According to the Childhood Beliefs Site, a large number of children believe there are monsters under the bed at night. Makes you think, doesn't it?

Nessie Rejected for Permanent Residency by Home Office

The Home Office knocked back an application for the Loch Ness Monster to be granted permanent residency in the UK.

The bizarre application was launched by members of an arts collective who filled out documents, paid the £65 processing fee and even attached a passport picture.

They said they made the tongue-in-cheek request because the monster "is likely to leave the UK to settle in a new lake within the EU" in the wake of Brexit.

And in a generic response, the Home Office said: "Thank you for your application to the Home Office. Your application has been received and is being considered."

But the application was eventually knocked back and in a response, a Home Office representative said: "Thank you for the above application.

"From the information provided it appears that a refund is appropriate."

Hannah Kendaru, 23, a member for the Glasgow-based arts collective The Doing Group, said: "We filed the application in good faith.

"However, the process was a difficult one. Nessie has a reputation for being elusive - signatures, passport photos and other information were very difficult to obtain.

"The reason behind the application has been the increased concern and hostility many people in the United Kingdom have been facing since Brexit has been becoming a reality.

"Nessie has lived in Scotland for a long time. Yet, her origin is unknown. Due to the worries that Brexit has caused, it was only natural to apply for a residency permit."

The arts group is now talking to experts in order "to figure out the best way of moving Nessie humanely and comfortably".

And they have appealed for members of the public to suggest an alternative home for the beast.

Irina Glinski, 27, another member of the group, said: "We are disappointed by the response from The Home Office.

"We are now in a position where we will have to consider the best course of action for Nessie's future.

"We have entered discussion with experts about how best to move Nessie in a humane and comfortable way."

The arts collective has now appealed for individuals and communities to submit alternative waters for the monster on their website.

Pictures and samples that "that we can test in comparison to Loch Ness" are also being encouraged.

The group said "more than ten lakes across Europe have signed up" so far.

Hannah added: "We can already see how proud people and communities are of their home lakes and it is heartening to see how many people are eager to help and welcome Nessie into their waters."

A spokesman for the Home Office said "the application was voided before any assessment because it was not for a real person".
